A Public Charter School Committed to
Excellence Welcome to the Charter Oak School Home Page. We currently are serving sixth through eighth grade on-campus students, as well as sixth through twelfth grades in our home school program. Charter Oak School provides a unique alternative educational opportunity for children. The school is founded on the principle that parents, students and staff are jointly responsible for the functioning of the the school community. Respect, Trust, Fairness, Freedom and Order are the pillars of Charter Oak School. The core curriculum provides an integrated education in the core subjects of English, mathematics, history and science. Computer technology is vital and serves as an essential element within all subjects. Family participation is an integral component of Charter Oak School. Parents and students are responsible for designing their individual Education Plan with staff assistance. Parents are responsible for teaching, running and overseeing Expanded Learning Programs (ELP's); ELP's are class periods that allow students to explore areas of personal or group interests. Students are responsible for presenting their educational portfolios to the school and business community at the end of the school year. Involvement within the community at large is encouraged. Therefore, field trips and service are a regular part of the curriculum at Charter Oak School. Each student is required to participate in a monthly service project. Charter Oak School provides the opportunity to increase and expand learning choices for students and parents while still within the public school system. Charter Oak School is an excellent educational alternative for parents who want to be involved with their child's education.
