Manager's Message
We are so fortunate at Charter Oak school! We are able to do
many things that most public schools are unable to do, such as public
service, field trips and student planned activities. We are not
constrained by curriculum restraints, time restraints or "having too
many students" restraints. We are so blessed!
During this special season and upcoming break - whether you observe it
as Christmas vacation, winter break or holiday season - the staff has
prepared your students to serve others. This month we packed food baskets
for the needy at the Salvation Army and picked up trash at Recreation
Park.
The last week of school before vacation, December 18 - 22, we will
continue our efforts to serve others. Please support your students
as we teach them to serve others:
- Clothing Drive - Last day to bring clothing donations to
school is Wednesday, December 20.
- Canned Food Drive - Last day to bring canned food donations
to school is Wednesday, December 20.
- Adopt-a-Family - Last day to bring donations is Wednesday,
December 20.
We will be delivering our school's donations to the Salvation Army and
Visalia Rescue Mission on December 20. Thank you for your
contributions.
Have a wonderful holiday season! See you Monday, January 8.

Assembly News
Friday, December 15, we had a great presentation by the Visalia Police
Department Gang Unit. Officers Mena and Lancaster talked to our
students about gangs, violence and the consequences of being labeled as a
gang member and ending up on probation. There was an informative
question and answer period. The students were quite impressed,
especially with Officer Mena because he is a part of Visalia's SWAT Team! |
Home School News
January 18: The end of semester 1. Please make sure
that all of your records - teacher's planner, grades, work samples for
each subject (for each school month) are copied and recorded in the school
office.
Appointments: It is imperative that all home school
students and parents understand the importance of your appointments with
school staff. If you miss an appointment you will then be required
to attend weekly appointments. After three missed appointments, you
will be dropped from out home school program.
Attendance Calendars: Please be aware of the importance of
attendance calendars. Mrs. Harper has to meet attendance submission
deadlines. Therefore, it is imperative that you meet your
deadlines. Each month the calendar must be turned in the day it is
due, which the day after the period end. You may hand carry, mail or
fax the calendar to the office. The fax number is (559) 684-9568.
Don't put your home school spot in jeopardy - missed calendar
submissions means being dropped from the home school program. Your
help will be appreciated!

The Race - by Kelli
I see the smoke from the gun.
I charge up to beat him.
I see me go fast.
My feet steal his.
He goes down.
He is out. He may bleed.
With only a trudge I am gone.
I know she worries, when I'm almost there.
she melts like a pie.
It is brilliant.
When I go through the pink line
People rise up.
I smell fresh, clean baby candy. |
