Think.com is a collaborative site that includes a library of student produced websites on many educational subjects.  These are published as a result of an annual competition for students around the world.  Enrollment on the site is free.

FunBrain is a site for educational games in different subjects.

Fun facts on a variety of subjects and free printable activities at Kidzone.

Kidspace is an online library for kids. You can even ask the librarians at the Internet Public Library a question.

Best on the Web for Teachers is a web portal for educators-lots of lesson plans and printables; some links have interactives.

Order great books through Scholastic and help CHSA earn free books and materials.  Our username is chsa and password is bookorder

UnitedStreaming, by Discovery Education, is a digital video-on-demand and online teaching service

abcteach offers more than 5000 free printable pages and worksheets.  For an annual fee, access is given for more than 15,000.

EnchantedLearning is a site with many links and printables.  (While many pages are available free, every page contains a large banner ad reminder that subscription to the site will give you access to the entire site, and you won't have to look at the ad.)

SCIENCE

Check here for activities for your K-6 California science textbook.

Explore the natural world, engineering, space, military technology, physics and even supernatural phenomena at How Stuff Works.

At the U.S. Geological Survey site, you can learn about past, present and future predictions for earthquake activity. Includes neat facts about quakes, science fair project ideas and answers to frequently asked questions about earthquakes.

Not for the faint of heart, here's a page of links for online dissections.

Scholastic for Parents offers reading ideas, book lists, crafts and more for parents of students of grades pre-school through middle school, while Scholastic for Teachers includes lesson plans, printables, teaching strategies as well as information about books and authors.

An amusement park of math and more -- especially designed for kids.

Online Kids Math Games and Lessons

This website was designed by two fourth graders for fourth graders who want to sharpen their math problem-solving skills.

An animated, interactive dictionary for students which explains over 600 common mathematical terms in simple language.

Aplusmath is a site to help students improve their math skills through interactive games and flashcards.  Also includes free printables.

HEALTH and FITNESS

KidsHealth is a great site devoted to getting and staying healthy and fit.  Includes recipes, games, and answers to lots of questions about why your body does what it does!
